Stepwise.com as it appeared yesterday
The homepage that has greeted me nearly every day for over 10 years just vanished. Scott Anguish, the site’s creator, has deleted the venerable source of OPENSTEP/Cocoa news & information. I opened a browser window at 11PM EST and was greeted with the following message:
As of 10:43 EST, after 14+ years of operation, I have deleted Stepwise. This includes all files, source, art, everything.
This is not a hacking. Nor is it something I have done lightly.
For more information (probably in a few hours) check Abandoninplace.squarespace.com. (Which eventually DNS will return to www.abandoninplace.com).
Don’t look for technical content of any amount. I do that all day.
I want to thank those who advertised on Stepwise over the years, and those who were not on the editorial team who took time to write.
Stepwise was singularly important to me. None of you have any idea how hard it was to make this decision.

Another message was posted on Scott’s blog, Abandon In Place.
It all seems rather enigmatic. Whatever happened to precipitate this—it’s too bad. Stepwise will be dearly missed.
Time to look for a new homepage.
