Man, I just gotta laugh. It seems that China is trying to implement a system that limits unhealthy amounts of online gameplay.
1-3 hours of play: You are a bad-ass mo’ fo’ with dyed black armour and a superb black stick of llama killing.
3-5 hours of play: You are half not half a man.
5+ hours of play: n00bs from all over the realm are kicking your butt and taking your lunch money.
According to the Chinese government, less than 3 hours of play is ‘healthy’ for people. More than 3 but less than 5 is ‘tiring’ and over 5 is ‘unhealthy’.
I can see the anger now, someone has spent the last year building up their character, and they are in the middle of fighting some big baddie in hopes of the promised big score. They are pounding away and the clock ticks…3 hours. Without a second to lose the baddie smacks em dead. Heh, sucks to be you.
At any rate, you can play more than 3 hours a day without penalty. Just not more than 3 hours without a 5 hour break. Technically, that means you can still get 9 hours of gaming in a day. What isn’t clear is if this is a per game deal or a per ‘user’ deal. For example, could someone play GameA for 3 hours, then switch to GameB for another 3, then on to GameC? After that you would be able to go back to GameA.
I assume, but again it isn’t clear, that it is linked to the account for the game and not the character. Otherwise you play Character1 for 3 hours, move to Character2, etc…
Heh, what ever happened to letting parents set the limits for their kids? Are they going to put this type of limitation on TV as well (probably not since it’s state run)?
Sounds like it will be ready for testing by the end of Sept. and they want to test it for a year starting in Oct.
